Ebbe Altberg arrived as CEO of Linden Lab on the 5th. February 2014. He took over the company and immediately set to work revitalizing our spirit and culture. Ebbe brought a deep openness and transparency to his work, which was crucial and had a huge impact on all of us, both internally and externally.
Lindens was encouraged to be part of the vibrant Second Life community, to participate and enjoy it as part of our daily tasks. Abbe has also worked internally to embrace all aspects of Second Life, exploring its many nuances to understand the implications of the choices we make, and being mindful of and leveraging all of our resources, which first and foremost includes you, the community, and many of us who are deeply immersed in Second Life. One of Ebbe’s goals for Second Life was to promote Second Life as the best virtual world, community and platform in the world.
He was also looking for new adventures in next-generation product development. I promise you all that we will continue our mission to make Second Life the biggest, best and smartest virtual world it can be, wrote Vice President of Product Patch Linden. New World Notes then made a selection of Altberg’s memories and recollections. Loyal fans of MassivelyOP and Massively know that the original Massively was spawned from AOL’s blog Second Life , and at the time MMO/Lifesim/Virtual World was the cornerstone of its coverage. I don’t know if we’d still be here without him. Our hearts go out to the community. View
