NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti Founders Edition Review

With the RTX 20 series, NVIDIA delivered some of the best gaming performance we’ve ever seen, and this year the company has raised the bar even higher with the RTX 30 series. Nvidia has pushed its flagship RTX 3080 Ti to the limits of its TU106 TU102 GPU, and we expect this thing will be able to play games better than the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, and that’s saying something.

With the GeForce RTX 2070 Ti and GeForce RTX 2080 Ti already on the verge of release, we’re now seeing the air gap between the high-end RTX and the RTX 20 series. So, when NVIDIA announced the GeForce RTX 30 series, with a successively lower price tag but relatively higher performance, they’ve done a great job in positioning the GTX’30 series as the step up from the RTX 20 series.

Introduction

This is the Ti ME for the RTX 3070 to get TIE’d. At Computex 2024, NVIDIA announced the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti and GeForce RTX 3070 Ti. The second one. In June, we tested the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Founders Edition, which has a suggested retail price of $1,199.  In our test, the graphics card was compared to the GeForce RTX 3080, GeForce RTX 3090 and AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT. Today, the new NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti Founders Edition hits the market.  Partner cards should be available the next day.

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti Founders Edition will be available for $599.  For comparison, the GeForce RTX 3070 Founders Edition costs $499 and the GeForce RTX 3080 Founders Edition costs $699.  It’s a spot in a price category not previously occupied by NVIDIA. When compared to AMD graphics cards, the AMD Radeon RX 6800 is the closest competitor with an MSRP of $579.  The RX 6800 XT has a retail price of $649.  This makes it only $50 more expensive (MSRP) than the new GeForce RTX 3070 Ti.  Remember, the MSRP is only the manufacturer’s recommended price and not the current street price.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 TiSpecifications

The GeForce RTX 3070 Ti is the GeForce RTX 3070 taken to the extreme.  This improves it considerably.  It is based on the GA104, the same as the RTX 3070.  Almost everything has been improved though, including the overall design.  The cooler is larger than that of the GeForce RTX 3070.  This is a larger graphics card with a more powerful cooling unit.  It’s not as big as the RTX 3080, but it’s bigger than the RTX 3070. The GeForce RTX 3070 Ti is based on Samsung’s 8nm GA104-400 chip.  It has 6,144 CUDA cores, 96 ROPs, 192 TMUs, 48 RT cores (2nd generation) and 192 Tensor cores (3rd generation) and runs at 1770 MHz.  It features 8GB of GDDR6X memory running at 19 GHz on a 256-bit memory bus and offers a throughput of 608GB/s.  The TDP is 290W.

Compared to the GeForce RTX 3070, the new GeForce RTX 3070 Ti increases the number of CUDA cores from 5888 to 6144 and the number of TMUs from 184 to 192.  RT scores increase from 46 to 48 and tensor scores increase from 184 to 192.  The boost clock frequency has also been slightly increased from 1725 MHz to 1770 MHz.  Although the frequency is different under real conditions.  The POR remains unchanged at 96. Memory capacity remains the same (8GB), but has been replaced with newer GDDR6X modules and overclocked to 19GHz, compared to 14GHz for the GeForce RTX 3070.  This brings the memory bandwidth to 608GB/s, compared to 448GB/s for the RTX 3070.  The total TDP has also been increased from 220W to 290W.  GDDR6X memory consumes more power than GDDR6.

GeForce RTX 3070 Ti Founders Edition Images

The appearance of the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti Founders Edition is deceiving at first glance. It’s the same style as the GeForce RTX 3070 Founders Edition, but with a GeForce RTX 3080 Founders Edition cooler configuration, but slightly smaller. The GeForce RTX 3070 Founders Edition features a dual cooling configuration on the front of the graphics card. However, the new GeForce RTX 3070 Ti Founders Edition uses the reverse fan design of the GeForce RTX 3080 Founders Edition and above. That is, there is a fan at the front and another at the back where the air flows through. At the same time, the cooling pattern also matches that of the GeForce RTX 3070 Founders Edition. Below you will find some pictures next to each other. It is the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti Founders Edition card. You can see that it is shorter than the radiator.

It has a unique cutout at the end that allows the fan to suck air through the heat pipes to the other side. The design of this card is not the same as the GeForce RTX 3080 Founders Edition, but the format is different. The GeForce RTX 3070 Ti Founders Edition features three DisplayPort 1.4a ports and one HDMI 2.1 port. It uses a 12-pin NVIDIA power supply. This adapter requires two 8-pin PCI Express power connectors. The NVIDIA 12-pin adapter is no different than the one on all Founders Edition boards, so any Founders Edition adapter can be plugged into this by mistake.

For example, you may accidentally B. connect a GeForce RTX 3070 adapter to this graphics card. However, it only has an 8-pin connector and does not work. However, you can still physically connect it, since all graphics cards have the same 12-pin connector. The disadvantage of this design is that you can plug in a plug that doesn’t work. Be sure to use a dual 8-pin connector.

As you can see, the new GeForce RTX 3070 Ti Founders Edition is an inch longer than the RTX 3070, but still shorter than the GeForce RTX 3080 Founders Edition. That’s because it uses a cooler similar to the GeForce RTX 3080, so it’s beefier, but has the same frame design as the RTX 3070. While the RTX 3080 has a large metal X-shaped frame, the RTX 3070 and RTX 3070 Ti have more of an S-shaped design.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is RTX Founders Edition better?

When it comes to gaming, NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX platforms are finally ready to replace the traditional GTX cards. GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, 2080, and 2070 are all monstrous cards, and if you want to play the latest and greatest games, then you want a GeForce RTX. Whoa, it’s not often that I get to review a new, highly anticipated graphics card, but that’s exactly what happened when NVIDIA sent me their new flagship GeForce RTX 3070 Ti GPU , the Founders Edition (FE). What I have here is a custom-design GPU that’s meant to slot in between the RTX 2070 and RTX 2080 in terms of price and performance.

Is RTX 3080 good for gaming?

NVIDIA’s new GeForce RTX 3080 is a faster, more powerful version of the company’s flagship RTX 2080. The GTX 2080 is undoubtedly one of the best graphics card available, and it’s been the best choice for players who can afford it. But did that stop NVIDIA from releasing a faster, more powerful card? The RTX 3080 has the same core and boost clock speeds as the 2080, but it has a slightly higher TDP, and it comes with a base clock speed of 1,556MHz, which is a bit lower than the 2080’s 1,708MHz.

For whatever reason, my computer’s primary graphics card (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti) has been malfunctioning of late. To deal with this I bought a second, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080. The RTX cards are well-regarded within the enthusiast community, but are NVIDIA’s lowest-end solutions. Should I be purchasing the RTX 3080 or the RTX 3080 Ti? What about the GeForce RTX 2070? Help!

Is the RTX 2070 Founders Edition worth it?

When NVIDIA announced the original GeForce GTX 1080 Ti back in May of 2017 I was a bit skeptical about the price tag of $699.99. Typically, the higher the price, the better the card for gaming. But with the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti it didn’t feel like a typical $699.99 card. It looked like the board was about 1.6 inches shorter than a standard GTX 1080, and had a bizarre board-top look with a large black “GeForce GTX” logo. With the new NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Founders Edition graphics card, we’re finally able to complete the holy trinity! This means that all three of the newest NVIDIA graphics cards are now performing at least as well as the Radeon RX Vega 64.
